After many years of hyper-fast growth, wireless markets around the world are now maturing, with slower subscriber growth and declining Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). Mobile operators are turning to new multimedia applications, such as video, music and games to drive ARPU increases and leverage their investments in third-Generation (3G) networks. As a result, mobile handsets are being packed with multimedia features to support new rich data services.
Mobile multimedia content and handset technology are mutually dependent. Indeed, competitiveness in the mobile handset market is increasingly focused on media-centric feature sets. For example, over 300 million music-enabled mobile handsets shipped in 2006... a figure that will more than double in 2007. Handset manufacturers are racing to support mobile video and mobile TV as well. Among the critical handset features leveraged by mobile content are displays, audio and video codecs, audio and video processing, memory, storage, connectivity, batteries and handset software.
This webinar will identify the key markets and trends in mobile multimedia content and their impact on handsets and handset technology.
